  2. Keep indoor humidity between 30 and 50 percent. In Florida this does more for allergen load than any filter upgrade, because dust mites and mold both need moisture. Your mini split dehumidifies while it cools, and it does that best when it isn’t oversized.
  3. Add an intake filter box at the head only with a technician who will measure static pressure afterward. It can work. Done blind, it starves the coil, and a frozen coil costs more than the filter saved. Running a portable air cleaner in your bedroom needs nobody’s permission. And putting a coil and blower wheel cleaning request to your landlord in writing is reasonable, because a coil that has never been cleaned is deferred maintenance on their asset rather than an upgrade you are asking them to fund.

The Limits No Mini Split Brand Gets Around

Every ductless system we service shares the same three ceilings, and no badge changes them. A wall head only conditions the air that reaches it, so a closed door is a wall your filtration cannot cross. The fan was sized for minimal resistance, which caps how much filter media you can ever put in front of it. And a mini split brings in no outside air at all, so it dilutes nothing. A four-head system is four filters on four schedules, and almost nobody treats it that way. The head in the main living area loads fastest, so it gets noticed and cleaned.
